Mecer’s 21st Quality of Living survey results are out, and Mauritius leads in Africa once again. Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius, ranked 83rd globally in quality living, as well as 59th globally as the safest city in Africa. Mercer’s report helps multinational organisations by giving them direction as to how much to pay employees when sending them to other parts of the world and provides insight into other parts of the world as companies need to know whether the areas they are sending their employees to is safe.

Evaluating approximately 500 cities across the world, Mercer analyses the quality of living status over 39 factors, which are grouped into 10 categories. These categories include the political and social environment, economic environment, medical and health services, socio-cultural environment, schools and education, public services, transportation, recreation, consumer goods, housing and the climate and natural disasters.

Mauritius has been a strong candidate within Africa as it boasts a dynamic economy with steady and consistent growth, a stable government and is notably becoming the richest country in Africa. It’s introduction of Smart Cities has put Mauritius on the map for providing innovative, intelligent and sustainable living. Schools and medical services are of international standards. The Mauritian property market is attractive to the international market due to its tax benefits, ownership rights and hassle-free investment property plans.

It is no surprise that Mauritius continues to perform well on the Mercer annual report. Mauritius is leading the way for other African continents and creating a safe, forward-moving lifestyle for all to enjoy.
